Change Your Bad Sleeping Habits During Sleep Awareness Week
Get more sleep to feel better during Sleep Awareness Week!
Our busy lives complete with stress and more things to do in a day than humanly possible often hinders our ability to get enough sleep. But, lack of sleep has been shown to cause serious health issues. March 6 kicks off the start of Sleep Awareness Week. It’s the perfect opportunity to get your sleep habits back on track. Check out these tips on how to get the most restful sleep possible.
Sleep Should Be Like Clockwork.
To make to most of your sleep, be sure to stick to a schedule. Go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day. Constantly changing your sleeping patterns will confuse your body and make it harder to get restful sleep.
Don’t Eat or Drink Too Late.
The best sleep is uninterrupted sleep. When you drink right before bed, you increase your likelihood of needing to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. Plus, when you eat too late, not only is it bad for your metabolism, but a stuffed feeling is uncomfortable and may hinder your ability to fall asleep.
Create The Right Environment.
Just like Goldie Locks and the Three Bears, your bedroom conditions should be just right. Make sure your mattress and pillows are comfortable and that the room temperature is just right. Too hot or too cold and you won’t be able to sleep. Additionally, you should keep electronics out of the bedroom. Television, laptops, and smartphones all give off light that induces wake signals in the brain, keeping you from getting the sleep you need.
